Good morning! Getting ready to run 9 miles with Miss K. Blades is off at her mom's so she's not joining us today. I would rather be curled up in bed because (1) it's still dark out (2) it's freezing out there and (3) I'm still sleepy!
So, in order to wake up, I thought I'd listen to this ridiculous Narwhal Song. I don't even know what cartoon it's for..all I know is it's cracking me up.
Another plus for this morning..the House passes a health reform bill!!!
All right..off to torture my body! Happy Sunday Folks!
It has been a couple of months since I have stepped on the grounds of Temescal Canyon. I am trying to go jogging (I do not really run) and this is one of my favorite spots in L.A. I needed a reminder of why I love this place. It's one of the coolest hiking spots because you are get fabulous views of the ocean and there is a great balance between shaded and exposed to the sun areas.
This morning I woke up and stepped out to a cold 40 degrees F. It was about 10 degrees warmer (in the sun) once I got to the west side. I almost stayed in a bed but I thought, "I'm awake anyway, I might as well get out." I have a very bizarre sleep/wake schedule. No one is up when I am so I have a lot of time to just be in my head. This, of course, can be good or bad.
There are the nicest people on this trail. Everyone seems so happy to be out. I love how many different languages I here as I run along the path - Spanish, Armenian, Japanese. I should learn how to say hello in different languages so I can just say it as I run past people.
One part of the trail just always clears my head. I get in a zone every time I hit that section. There are boulders, fallen trees and wooden bridges and it feels like an obstacle course. Whenever I reach this part, I feel like I run faster. I get lost in the trail. It's the most incredible feeling and in a really beautiful environment. I need to try to find a spot closer to where I live but so far, nothing really compares to this spot of heaven in L.A.
