Oh, I will hold on to my Amoeba moment with him forever

But I also like the fact that you can get a personalized song out of this guy. Thanks to "You Ain't No Picasso" for posting it.

A President Like My Father

It has been a pretty exciting time for me. I went on a date and it's only January. This makes me hopeful for the future. We also had a super fun Book Bistro where we allowed the students to throw paper airplanes off of the balcony and scream their heads off. When does THAT ever get to happen in the library? So, they had loads of fun. I wish I had taken pictures because it was really amazing some of the planes they created and the aftermath. The IT department created a new template for the webpage and I had fun working on that because I have been waiting for so long for a new template. And yesterday I got this done :
Here is my tattoo journey for you since it's only 6:45 AM and I don't want to write anymore.
"The Chef" - ok, I'm biased but he's f---ing talented. And yes, you should go see him because he'll discuss what you want and he's a great artist. I thought about adding colour and he explained to me that it would look weird. He knows.
*Side note: please do not yell at your Tattoo Artist. It's rude and obnoxious. If you are getting your first tattoo, please do the research. Talk to people with tattoos or better yet, as Jen pointed out, make friends with people who have tattoos. Seriously, so I don't have to climb over the room to punch you in the the neck. Also, tell the artist what you want before they start, so you aren't freaking out when they are trying to do something amazing because you are clueless. And, as Felicious pointed out last night, stop watching so much g.d. "Miami Ink" or "L.A. Ink." And do not ask me what my tattoo means, I do not know you.
Also, shut the f---- up. k. bi.

At least we can comment on it now.
I really should just be a vegetarian.

I love Nick Hornby so I was happy to read that he was writing a ya book. Slam has received really great reviews and I agree with them.
I love that this book had a kid who talked to his Tony Hawk poster, that he was a young father, that the protagonist struggled to do the right thing and that it was pretty plausible.
It is definitely worth picking up. It's entertaining, funny, heart-warming. There is a lot of reference to skateboarding that I think boys and girls would enjoy.
I am at my sister's house and this came on VH1 Soul. I loved this song. I loved this video. That was one of the great things about the 80s there were all these superstar groups and songs like "We are the World" , "Do They Know It's Christmas" and of course, 'King Holiday." Now, I am not really aware of any big groups of musicians singing one song together. This video was and still is amazing to me.
As well as this one:
I received an email from Miss Headphonerecord and it just makes me sad about the comments people have made on this video now that it's posted on youtube. People are really that happy with being ignorant and intolerant. It's 2008. It really made me physically ill reading people's comments. People miss the entire point of this day and what it symbolizes, what Dr. King symbolizes. Hi, being tolerant, accepting, understanding - so many positive things.
Well, happy Dr. King day to you filled with peace, love and happiness. (normally, I am not such a sap but today I feel alright with being that way.)
